How One Minnesota Grandpa Cured His Back Pain After A 23-Year Battle
by Amos Miller (with Stephen Ridley)
"You need to stop lying there feeling sorry for yourself. You can't expect your back pain to just go away on it's own. You're being ridiculous!"
My brother, Jim wasn't one to sugar coat the tough things in life. But, I always appreciated his straight-shot approach with me, even back when we were kids.
I knew his advice came from a place of love, even if sometimes it didn't sound like it. I guess you could call it, "Tough Love."
Jim was a former construction worker who was no stranger to suffering with back pain. Before his retirement, I'd often see him lying on bags of ice after his latest injury at work.
The difference was, after years of struggle, he'd actually learned how to solve his back pain problems.
These days you'll find him running around the yard, tossing balls, and wrestling with his two grandsons, Jesse and Scott, without a care in the world.

So begrudgingly, I listened to what he had to say.
And like with everything else, he didn't mince words when I admitted that I'd been sleeping on the floor for months due to my back pain.
And that's where Jim and his "tough love" came in...
"I know you're a stubborn old mule, but I'm telling you, just watch the video..."
"Its free, you can watch it in about 7 minutes, and it's easy. The guy in the video knows what he's talking about."
I asked Jim who this 'Tom Stevens' guy was. I'd never heard of him.
That's when he told me...
"He's not some quack, or someone selling snake oil. He's a regular guy who suffered with back pain for 16 years."
"He learned this special stretching technique while he was on vacation in Thailand, and it solved his back issues. I tried it, and it worked for me too. That's why I'm now a cool Grandpa, and you..."
His eyes narrowed as he looked me up and down.
"...Have turned into a grumpy old man."
As much as I hated to hear it, I knew he had a point.
So when Jim told me about this back-pain stretch"that gives real relief in 6-minutes a day" - I figured I had nothing to lose.
I put my "stubborn old mule" act to one side, and watched the video.
It was easy to follow along with, and the guy in the video explained everything super clearly. There's something about those British guys, they just sound like they know what they're talking about - and it seemed like a pretty simple "follow the steps" type of approach.
I'd already tried all the usual remedies, from ice packs, to pain pills, to creams, and chiropractors, and nothing had worked. I'd even had my doctor recommend surgery, which I really did NOT want to do...
So I said to myself, "what the hell..." And followed along with the stretch routine in the video.
As instructed, I did it once when I'd wake up in the morning, and then once again before bed. And incredibly, I noticed something felt different in my back by the second day.
Based on my past experience I'd almost expected this to fail, so seeing actual results was a new one for me. And then within about a week, my pain had gone.
I had NO IDEA how easy it could be until this one video taught me exactly what was causing my back pain, and how to solve it.
The video explained that I had to stretch ONE specific muscle in my back (bizarrely, it was a muscle that all the other specialists had completely ignored).
And when you stretch that muscle, it unlocks the rest of your back, and alleviates the pain. And that's precisely what happened to me.
And it was all thanks to this little 7 minute video my brother Jim told me to watch.
It follows a simple sequence of stretches the guy in the video calls, "The QL Method." Even I found it easy to do, and I'm not the most active guy in the world.
Now, like my brother Jim, I'm pretty much an evangelist for this thing and want to 'pay it forward' as much as possible.
Just like how Jim gave me some of that 'tough love' that day, I now tell everyone I meet who struggles with back pain to watch this video before they do anything else.
